The most effective inclusive settings involve regular communication between classroom teachers, special educators, speech therapists, occupational therapists, and behavior analysts. Shared goals, consistent language and strategies, and frequent check-ins ensure that a child’s IEP objectives are embedded naturally into every part of the school day — not confined to a separate therapy room.
Peer Awareness and Social Inclusion
Academic inclusion alone is not enough. Children with ASD often benefit from structured peer support programs — lunch buddies, social skills groups, buddy systems during unstructured times — that help build genuine friendships.
